A “Blue Moon” is the second Full Moon in the same month. May 18th, 2019 is the date for the next Blue Moon visible on the North American continents. A “Blood Moon” is where the moon appears red during an eclipse. The next “Blood Moon” will occur on Jan. 21, 2019 and will be visible from all of North and South America, weather permitting. One of the final signs of the times before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the Moon appearing “Red” like blood in color. “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come (Joel 2:31). “The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the day of the Lord comes (Acts2:20). Isaiah 13:13, 24:19-20.
The Jewish year is a lunar year of twelve lunar months of about 29.5 days. This was true for many cultures including China, India and Mayan American societies. It is of interest to note that the latter three cultures identified the “Rabbit on the Moon.” The Maya only plant on a full moon and only harvest palm branches for their roofs on a full moon. It is a proven fact that palm branches harvested on a full moon last twice as long as those gathered on other times. Tides are highest during the new moon (when moon and sun pull in the same direction) and during the full moon (when they pull in opposite directions Scientist have suggested that the full moon draws more moisture from the plant just as the moon’s gravity affects tides in the ocean.
The Jewish holidays are defined by the month in which they occur. Because of the eleven days + or – between the solar year and the lunar year, the Jewish calendar is adjusted according to the vernal equinox every March 21 or 22 so that the Passover can be celebrated in the Spring as commanded by the Lord in Exodus 12. The New Moon is day one of each month (Gen 8:5). The next New Moon will be July 12, 2018.
Jonathan tells David to meet him on the third day after the New Moon. (1 Sam 20:18-19).
